Archaeology

Does the evidence obtained as we dig deeper into the past shed light on Scripture? Several sites are worth exploring and if you have a passion for archaeology, you can subscribe to online (and print) journals like the Biblical Archaeology Review.

  • Biblical Archaeology Society: The Biblical Archaeology Society (BAS) was founded in 1974 as a nonprofit, nondenominational, educational organization dedicated to the dissemination of information about archaeology in the Bible lands. BAS educates the public about archaeology and the Bible through its bi-monthly magazine, Biblical Archaeology Review, an award-winning web site www.biblicalarchaeology.org, books and multimedia products (DVDs, CD-ROMs and videos), and tours and seminars. • Associates for Biblical Research: This site aims to provide information to the Christian community and the general public by the most effective means available on the subject of Biblical archaeology and the creation/evolution issues.
  • The Dead Sea Scrolls: In 1946 a Bedhouin shepherd discovered a collection of clay jars containing ancient manuscripts that included the oldest known copies of books of the Old Testament. You can discover more for yourself at the Dead Sea Scrolls official site.
