How does your faith relate to the science part of your brain

  1. Biblical references
    • Psalm 19:1 says “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”.
    • Romans 1:18-23 – creation reveals God’s power and nature and so we are without excuse.
  2. Science leads to conversion
    • Allan Sandage – one of the most influential astronomers of the 20th century. Became a Christian as a result of his work on the Big Bang theory.1
    • Francis Collins – headed the Human Genome Project and became a Christian after a journey that he thought would strengthen his atheism but instead led to his conversion.2
  3. Science strengthens faith
    • Ruth Bancewicz is a Senior Research Associate at The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion, Cambridge (UK) who explores how science enhances faith in her book God in the Lab: How Science Enhances Faith3
    • Deb Haarsma is an astrophysicist who has written many articles on how science has deepened her understanding of God.4
  4. Faith encourages scientific investigations
    • Isaac Newton – believed that, as a consequence of his belief in a God of order, there were laws of nature waiting to be discovered5
