Some important definitions

Science – the study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation, experimentation, and the testing of theories against the evidence obtained.

Theory – a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is based on a body of evidence.

Evolution – the change in the heritable characteristics of biological populations over successive generations that leads to new species. Evolution is caused by five naturally occurring and observable phenomena:
        mutations,
        genetic drift,
        gene flow,
        non-random mating
        natural selection.

Creation – the bringing of the universe and life into existence by a supernatural being (God) through means that operate outside the physical laws and limits of our current universe.

Intelligent Design – the idea that certain features of the universe and living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not by natural processes alone.

Naturalism – the belief that everything arises from natural properties and causes, and supernatural explanations are not needed.

Supernaturalism – the belief that there is more to reality than the natural world, and that divine or spiritual forces can influence the world.

Hypothesis – a testable statement or prediction used as a starting point for investigation.

Big Bang Theory – the scientific theory that the universe began as a very small, hot, and dense point about 13.8 billion years ago, and has been expanding ever since, with this expansion now accelerating over time.

Dark Energy – a mysterious force that makes up about 70% of the universe and is responsible for the accelerating expansion of the universe. Scientists don’t know exactly what it is, but they suggest it exists to explain the accelerating expansion of the universe.
